The Incredible Samson

Samson is the biblical Hercules, a man of super-human strength who nonetheless could not escape tragedy. Samson’s story is found in the Book of Judges chapters 13-16. He is the last of the major judges who led the Israelites, but he is hardly an ideal role model or savior. Samson breaks vows, marries outside of the people of Israel twice, and functions more as a vigilante than a leader.

The Boy Prophet Samuel

Son of Elkanah and Hannah, Samuel was born in answer to his mother’s prayers. As a child he was placed in the care of Eli, high priest at the tabernacle at Shilo. The Lord called Samuel at a young age to become a prophet (1 Sam. 3). After Eli’s death, Samuel became the great prophet and judge of Israel and restored law, order, and regular religious worship in the land.

Isaiah and The Mystery of the Sent One of God

Isaiah was a hopeful, faithful and loving prophet of God. Much of his message is relevant for our time. Isaiah was a prophet for the kingdom of Judah. Rabbinic tradition has it that Isaiah's father, Amoz (not the same as Amos the prophet), was a brother of King Amaziah. This would make Isaiah first cousin to King Uzziah and grandson to King Joash.
